Sarasota Jewish Theatre Mourns the Loss of Howard Millman, a Visionary Leader and Beloved MentorSarasota Jewish Theatre is honored to celebrate Howard Millman’s profound impact on the theatre community by dedicating our 6th season to his memory.

Farewell to a Theatrical Luminary:  Howard Millman’s Enduring Legacy.  It is with immense sadness that Sarasota Jewish Theatre says “sleep well fair prince” to Howard Millman. Howard Millman enriched the lives of countless theatre-goers in cities across this nation. He was a pragmatic visionary and the architect of much of what is so glorious in our arts community. He shaped Asolo Rep, nurtured Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, and supported and encouraged Sarasota Jewish Theatre. As a director, he was among the best. A mentor to thousands of theatre professionals, he guided careers and helped create Broadway stars.

Carolyn Michel and Howard shared a deep and abiding love for over 26 years. She was a fierce and extraordinary caregiver for Howard as he faced health challenges. This is an immeasurable loss for Carolyn, for their friends and family, for SJT, for the entire Sarasota theatre community, and for me personally. He changed my life. He changed Sarasota. Rest in peace my friend.

Carole Kleinberg
